FOUNDATION RAISES AWARENESS FOR PEDIATRICS Published: Jul 29, 2007 By Tony Holt SPRING HILL — When 7-month-old Rachael Jobmann was admitted to the hospital two years ago, she was suffering from cold-like symptoms that lingered for weeks.
At least that was what her parents and the medical staff at Spring Hill Hospital thought.
Her conditions grew worse and she was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where pediatric care specialists could not revive her.
The medical staff in Tampa asked why the baby was not given the correct course of treatment for respiratory failure by her doctors in Spring Hill.
CRITICAL CARE FOR KIDS IN COUNTY GETS PUSH A cookout in memory of a little girl promotes awareness, and a petition drive is under way. By Austin Bogues SPRING HILL - Rescue workers are sometimes haunted by incidents - ones that replay in their mind over and over.
For Troy Hagar, it's the memory of a crash 12 years ago on County Line Road in which five teenagers were killed. One girl was flown to a Tampa hospital, where she later died.
Time is critical when making rescues, and nothing is more stressful than getting a call that a child is in danger, Hagar said. So the Spring Hill firefighter was eager to support the idea of a pediatric intensive care unit in Hernando County.
ON A MISSION FOR CHILDREN'S CARE HERNANDO COUNTY (Bay News 9) Christy Jobmann and her husband are on a mission.
Two years ago, their seventh-month old daughter Rachael died after a doctor's misdiagnosis.
By the time it was determined their daughter needed critical pediatric care, it was too late.
The Jobmanns want to make sure that doesn't happen to any other children in Hernando County, where there are no pediatric intensive or critical care units.
Hospitals in Hernando are geared for emergency care but more if more sophisticated help is needed, children must be taken to Tampa.

Rachael was admitted to a local hospital in Spring Hill. But 12 hours later, she died. She suffered from respiratory failure.
BEREAVED PARENTS FIGHT FOR CHANGE St Pete Times Article July 10, 2007 By Andrew Skerritt On July 4, Christy and Robert Jobmann Sr. popped fireworks, lit a candle and joined relatives in a toast. But the Spring Hill residents weren't just celebrating America's birthday; they were remembering their daughter, Rachael.
Two years ago, on the evening of Independence Day, they took their 7-month-old baby to Spring Hill Regional Hospital because she was congested.
The hospital staff treated Rachael all night for what they thought was pneumonia, but her condition worsened. Around dawn, they flew her to St. Joseph's Children's Hospital in Tampa.
Robert and Christy drove home and then headed for Tampa. ...
